“This mission has helped me understand how I can positively impact my senior family members, especially my grandparents. By teaching them how to use their mobile phones—like taking screenshots, finding directions on Google, and sending messages on Telegram—I’ve seen how these skills make their lives easier and more connected.
A highlight of this experience was sharing a meal with my grandparents. Because my Junior College schedule is busy, I don’t spend as much time with them as I used to, which has caused some distance. This volunteering opportunity helped us reconnect. I learned more about their life stories, and I shared updates about my school life, reassuring them that I’m doing well.
To keep building our connection, I plan to meet with them every 2 to 3 weeks and stay in touch through video calls and texts. I’ll also send them letters to show my care and appreciation. By maintaining these connections, I hope to strengthen our family bond, even though we live different lives.”

This experience helped me connect with my grandmother, someone I don’t often talk to. Teaching her new skills brought us closer and made me realize how important grandparents are. It was heartwarming to see how eager she was to learn, which made me excited to teach her.
Despite some initial hiccups, her patience and enthusiasm stood out. This experience encouraged me to spend more time with her outside of projects and showed me that meaningful conversations, even across generations, can bring us closer.
