Imagine a future where seniors are not only digitally adept but also connected and engaged, combating isolation through the power of technology.
Since 2020, Empower Ageing has been leading the national SilverSurfers (SS), a program envisioned by Isaiah Chng and designed to empower seniors across Singapore through digital literacy. Supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Digital for Life Fund, SS engages nearly 1,000 seniors daily via a dedicated Telegram channel. This initiative addresses the digital divide among seniors aged 60 and above, helping them navigate online platforms for communication and essential services. By providing structured learning sessions and hands-on activities, SS enhances seniors’ connectivity, safety, and overall quality of life in the digital era.
We were honoured to receive the Catalyst Award from Minister Josephine Teo at the Digital for Life Partner’s Appreciation event. Having Digital for Life patron President Tharman Shanmugaratnam with us added to the celebration.
